Background/History:

In 1968, a young nun, Sr. Mary Jacent (commonly known as Sr. Maria Yasinta) founded Our Lady Star of Pilgrims, Bukulula Girls’ Secondary School to provide post-primary education to the girl child. This was meant to catalyse a force that she believed was the fibre of the nation. Sr. Mary Jacent believed that when girls are educated, then the whole nation is educated, since mothers are the prime educators of their children.

Bukulula Secondary School started as a junior school at the time. Since then, it has evolved into a national, independent and non-profit making educational institution committed to empowering the girl child with knowledge and skills that are meant to liberate and emancipate them.

The school welcomes students whose parents and guardians will get involved in and support their children’s education.
